Virtual Wine Tasting Cin Cin & Un Brindis!, Italy & Spain, 2-2021

Another virtual evening spent traveling around Europe during lockdown. First a wine tasting with two vintners from Tuscany, Italy and the Castilla y León region in Spain. We then joined part two of a live stream event from my son’s House of Bandits in Vienna where he and other art professionals discussed the topic of the future of art in the digital realm. Both were fascinating and we learned a lot! This was our 3rd virtual wine tasting with Wolf’s Wine Depot in Austria and it was nice to have enjoyed the event from the comfort of our living room. I made us some tapas to go with our tastings that included spicy chicken wings, vegetarian pita sandwiches with a creamy Tzatziki, along with some apple slices and we were good to go live. This time we were joined by the chief oenologist Pietro Riccobono of Bertani Domains in Tuscany who shared a glimpse of his profession with us. We tasted two red wines a Chianti Classico Al Limite and a Vino Nobile Santa Caterina which I really liked! After that we went to Spain in the district of the Ribera del Duero at the winery of the Bodega Montegaredo. We were joined by two charming sisters, Maria & Ester Garcia, whose family owns the vineyards and between them possessed such a depth of knowledge of their wines and region. We were acquainted with the area but now we have an even better appreciation of this area of Spain. We tasted two red wines from their estate a Ribera del Duero Montegaredo Crianza and a Ribera del Duero Piramide. Both were lovely wines but I especially favored the Piramide. It was a wonderful evening spent with professionals discussing wine and art in Europe via the Yazbert sofa!
