Happy Easter! Took a morning hike out in the Allgau in nearby Bavaria about 20 km from Bregenz and came across the lovely Baroque Maria-Thann Church in a small village of Thann. Normally tiny towns like this don’t have such elaborate churches such as this one, but its history dating from the 16 century held that the famous monk St. Gallus himself preached here and converted the locals. The Virgin Mary even appeared to the holy Bishop Gebhard von Konstanz that resulted in the consecration of the church and in its time was an important site of pilgrimage and is still even today. Love me some gold bling in Baroque churches!
